Case Studies :Desludging primary tanks at Leeds

Yorkshire Water at Leeds have adopted the EMS ram pump as the preferred choice for de-sludging their primary tanks

Following successful trials and evaluation, Yorkshire Water have replaced all the PST de-sludging pumps they had at their Knostrop WWTW in Leeds with EMS ram pumps. EMS evaluated their de-sludging problem and worked closely with Yorkshire Water’s engineers to select the VRM250 mechanically driven ram pump. The VRM250 pumps are self priming and create a suction lift of 9 metres, giving the ability to draw very thick sludge from the bottom of the PST’s. The VRM250’s are specified to deliver 24 cubic metres per hour at 5 bar pressure. A major benefit is the pumps ability to handle solids and rags and it’s resistance to blocking. Yorkshire Water now have sixteen EMS ram pumps at Leeds.
